Sheldon Family Album Part 1

Is there anything better in the life of an Imagist than that of being in the presence of a mother's love for her son? Probably not. I recently had the opportunity and pleasure to do just this and I will admit freely that it is an incredible site to behold.

I was given the honor of beginning the process of documenting an incredible family's growth, beginning in their formative, young years. The Sheldons are an incredible tiny clan and their energy, as you will see, is contagious and utterly honest.

For location we picked two areas local and familiar: an oak grove nearby and their house. I have always found that familiarity plays such an important role in the delivery of honest, real emotions - and we got just that. Rhianna and I discussed image type and composition thoroughly beforehand in my standard, personal consultation and we determined that an overall feel of lucid, atmospheric comfort would be the look that we would go for. As she said many times, "I don't want these to look like everything else that I have seen out there."

So that's what we did: familiar emotions with unfamiliar results. Some images are quite surreal and others look to be shot with the world's greatest Casio "point and shoot" (though I would prefer a Leica analogy). Here's to many more amazing family photo shoots!

Love all, live well and look at all the beauty around you,

B. Mason Gardenhire
